OGDEN, Utah — The Goldenwest Credit Union Annual 5KRun-Walk-Crawl has resulted in an over $35,000 donation to sevenlocal schools.

More than 2,000 students, teachers, parents, volunteers andother community leaders recently participated in the event.

One hundred percent of the registration fees were donated to theparticipating schools–Bonneville High School, South Ogden JuniorHigh, T.H. Bell Junior High, H. Guy Child Elementary, MarLon HillsElementary, Roosevelt Elementary, and Uintah Elementary. GoldenwestCU matched the registration fees to the designated schools.

“It is an awesome feeling to be in a crowd of 2,000 people whoare running early on a Saturday morning to raise money for ourschools,” said Shelley Clarke, president of Goldenwest CU. “We werethrilled to present the checks to each school. Best of all, we knowthat the money raised through this event will help improve theeducational experience of the children in our community.”

The schools use the 5K funds to support student programs such asathletics and cultural events, and to purchase library materialsand playground equipment. This year's race was the sixthconsecutive 5K that Goldenwest has hosted to raise money for localschools. The annual fundraiser is becoming one of the largest 5Kevents in Northern Utah.
