FAIRFAX, Va. – Apple Federal Credit Union has been presented the Virginia Credit Union League Visionary Award for its overall progressive approach to its in-school Student-Run Credit Union program.

Now servicing 26 schools in five school divisions, Apple FCU was one of the first to see potential in such extensions, and opened the doors in 1995 to its first student-run credit union in Robert E. Lee High School.

Today, the program serves as an education tool, providing students with real world financial literacy and the opportunity to explore future employment prospects while developing an understanding of money, conceptually and in practice. Additionally, Apple's program provides assistance with the development of financial education curriculum within the schools it serves.
