EUGENE, Ore. – The parking lot of SELCO Community Credit Union recently served as the site of the Third Annual SELCO ShredFest.
Cars, vans, and pickups filled with bags and boxes of old documents lined up where team members from SELCO and local document-management company, CDI Vaults, transferred the tons of paper into trucks for free, secure, on-site shredding.
Radio station New Country 93-KKNU, with local radio personality Tracy Berry, hosted a live radio remote to talk about safe document storage, account security, and identity fraud protection.

"Members were telling us that they didn't want to hold on to all this paper, but they didn't feel comfortable putting it out on the curb either," said SELCO CEO/President Ava Milosevich. "When a member suggested that we help folks shred and recycle their financial documents, we weren't sure if it would catch on. Since then, we've received repeated requests from members asking us to do it again, and now the event is in its third year. It's definitely becoming a cornerstone event for us."
