WASHINGTON – This year's Third Annual Police Officers' Credit Union Conference attracted a record crowd. A total of 15 credit unions that serve the law enforcement community were represented as well as 12 sponsors and exhibitors. Platinum sponsors of the event included Corporate Central Credit Union, Corporate One and Mid-Atlantic Corporate.

"We are extremely gratified by the growing participation in this conference, which gives credit unions such as ours a forum to discuss credit union issues in general, as well as the unique challenges that face credit unions serving a law enforcement field of membership," said Scott Arney, president of the Chicago Patrolmen's Federal Credit Union, who chaired the planning committee.

Sessions covered a wide range of topics, including lending, mortgage servicing, disaster recovery, risk management, marketing and succession planning. A special presentation was made by representatives of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, which honors law enforcement personnel who gave their lives in the line of duty.

"We currently have identified over 70 credit unions in the country that have the word `police' in their name, indicating they serve law enforcement," said Arney. "We're sure there are more credit unions out there that serve law enforcement, and we hope that the success of this year's event will encourage them to become involved as this conference becomes an annual tradition."
