ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Card Services for Credit Unions, the association of credit unions which process their card transactions with Fidelity National Information Services, now has 3,400 credit unions as members and represents over 12 million Visa and MasterCard accounts, the association has reported.
This means, by CSCU's estimate, roughly 62% of CUs which issue cards are now CSCU members and, in aggregate, they rank No. 10 with Visa USA in terms of transaction volume.
"We again saw exceptional growth in 2005," said Robert Hackney, president CSCU. "We had increases in membership and accounts, but more importantly, we were able to reach more credit unions with the message that their card programs can compete with the large issuers," he said.
