LA HABRA, Calif. – American First Credit Union is teaching elementary school students the benefits of saving with its Bank at School program.
The unique program, currently being implemented at St. Pius V Elementary School in Buena Park, California, helps students understand the importance of saving money. Students watch their savings grow each week, as they bring their change to school and give it to a credit union representative, who then deposits it into their account and provides a receipt. Each student who makes a deposit is entered into a monthly drawing for prizes and tickets to local attractions. Special incentives are also offered for parents and teachers to open their own accounts.
American First Credit Union's educational coordinator also conducts financial seminars for students and parents to learn about financial products and services and how they can plan for their financial futures.
