WAUKEGAN, Ill. – Consumer Credit Union Vice President of Sales and Marketing Hal Coxon has been inducted to the Lake County Civil Rights Hall of Fame. One of 12 honored for their outstanding contributions toward the advancement of civil rights in Lake County, Illinois, Coxon's civil rights activism has spanned over 20 years. Helping to advance minority employment opportunities in the 1980s, he was further recognized for his 25 years of support for minority causes as a business owner, consultant and credit union employee. As a CCU vice president, Coxon has championed credit union involvement in community activities that reflect this commitment to civil rights. Other Hall of Fame inductees honored included: Edwynne Ford Sr., Rev. Dr. Jimmie Williams, Waddell Brooks Sr., Mayor Kristina Kovarik of Gurnee, Edna Bankhead, Pinella Brown, Beatrice Taylor-Coleman, Luna McKenzie-Connor, Rev. Clarence Clarke, Elder Jesse Wallace and Henry Springs Jr.
