WASHINGTON – Credit unions' commitments to CUNA's Home Loan Payment Relief (HLPR) program have reached an important milestone. As of April 5, commitments exceeded $1 billion for the first time – $1,065,093,000. To date 117 credit unions in 33 states have signed up for the HLPR program as follows: Alaska, 1; Arkansas, 1; Arizona, 1; California, 21; Colorado, 4; Connecticut, 1; Florida, 6; Iowa, 2; Kentucky, 1; Louisiana, 1; Massachusetts, 16; Maryland 2; Maine, 1; Michigan, 4; Minnesota, 2; Missouri, 2; Montana, 1; North Carolina, 1; New Hampshire, 3; New Jersey, 1; Nevada, 1; New York, 7; Ohio, 12; Oregon, 5; Pennsylvania, 2; Rhode Island, 1; South Carolina, 1; South Dakota, 1; Tennessee, 3; Texas, 1; Virginia, 3; Washington, 3; and Wisconsin, 5. Commitments from these credit unions range from $138,000 to $125 million. According to CUNA Economist Steve Rick, President/CEO Dan Mica will soon be sending credit unions a letter encouraging them to sign up for the program and make a monetary commitment to the loans. CUNA has also been promoting the program in its mortgage Webinars and in speeches given around the country.
