Frederick Healey, president/CEO of $524 million Workers’ Credit Union, said in a March 21 article on Sentinel and Enterprise.com’s Web site that he expects the continued development of the credit union’s business lending products along with new branch openings and expansions to lead to new jobs in the area. “We have, however, seen a softening in the real estate market and the number of purchased mortgages is down from this quarter a year ago, and we think the rest of the year will be soft,” Healey told the publication. Healey wears several hats as vice president of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce and as chairman of Northeast Member Business Services, LLC, a CUSO formed last year by several credit unions in the New England area.
