PASADENA, Calif. – In a tribute to its humble beginnings in 1934 as the Telephone Employees Credit Union, Wescom CU recently unveiled a restored 1934 Ford stake bed pickup truck and welcome wagon trailer. It debuted at the 2006 Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure of Breast Cancer. The truck and trailer were brought to Southern California from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The final vehicle restoration included the Indigo Blue paint job and an antique version of Wescom's blue logo. The truck also includes: an Alpine stereo equipped with XM and MP3 auxiliary jack, electric door locks and windows, air conditioning, fiberglass fenders, dual fuel tanks, Cragar chrome mags, and a 350 cubic inch engine. The welcome wagon trailer even has an authentic Coca Cola ice box, modified for today's needs, to keep refreshments for the community cold. The truck will be used for community outreach programs within the CU's seven-county membership region and will be showcased at future Wescom events.
