WASHINGTON – Meeting in Washington in conjunction with CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference, the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions’ Board has voted to move the organization’s annual meeting in 2007 to New Orleans in order to help support the rebuilding effort in the region. “We aren’t a huge conference, but we definitely wanted to do what we could to support the city in its rebuilding effort,” explained Cliff Rosenthal, Federation Executive Director. The conference had been scheduled for Dallas and Rosenthal said the Federation remained committed to Dallas but that it will hold its 2008 conference there. The weekend of Feb. 25-26 is the weekend of Mardi Gras in New Orleans and Rosenthal thought it appropriate that the Federation should have decided during the weekend’s meeting to make the move to support the city and draw attention to the ongoing rebuilding effort.
