LAS VEGAS – There were two standout marketing award winners at this year's CU Conferences' Business Development Select Employee Group Conference. Walking away with top honors in the annual "Share your Successes" competition was First Entertainment Credit Union. Seeking to recruit younger generations of members, the campaign featured a variety of T-shirts, direct mail pieces and other materials bearing irreverent messages. All featured the tagline, "An Alternative Way to Bank." Business Development Officer Monica Wilson was on hand to accept the award. Second place honors went to Zellco Federal Credit Union for a giveaway featuring bottles of hot sauce custom labeled, "Zellco Credit Union Red Hot Loan Rates." Zellco Marketing Manager Tracy Sprehe and Branch Manager Kathy Hand Simoneaux accepted the award on behalf of the credit union. Winners were determined by votes from conference attendees representing credit unions nationwide at the annual conference, held this year at Bally's Hotel and Casino Las Vegas. The "Share Your Successes" competition has become a well-received part of CU Conferences' Business Development SEGs Conference, now in its seventh year. The conference is held back-to-back with CU Conferences' The Bottom Line Conference, an educational mainstay since 1982. "Our SEG's conference is one of our most popular," says Robert Berra, director of conferences. "And every year the `Share Your Successes' competition attracts more and more inventive entries." CU Conferences, now in its 27th year, is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. It holds approximately 18 conferences each year dedicated to educating, training and equipping credit union professionals and volunteers to excel in meeting the challenges of the ever-changing movement.
