Editor-in-Chief Paul Gentile was right on the mark in his Feb. 1 column, when he said, "Attention All Credit Unions, Stop Giving Banks Your Business!!!!" I couldn't agree more. In the face of unrelenting attempts by bankers to dismantle the credit union system through their announced "containment and conversion" strategy, now is not the time to do business with the enemy. Excellent options for virtually any service needed by credit unions are to be found within the credit union system itself. The unique cooperation and collaboration within the credit union system has never been more important – together we're much more powerful and we've proven that time and time again. The same issue of Credit Union Times contained important information on other critical credit union issues, reminding me of things I'll miss seeing regularly upon my pending retirement-and of things I WON'T miss, such as the self-serving ranting by Marv Umholtz. Is anyone not tired of him yet? Now he tries to tell leagues how to relate to their member credit unions – I can't think of anyone less qualified to do that.
