MADISON, Wis. – CUNA Mutual recently announced 90 more job cuts, most taking place in the back-office, which has been a common thread of many of its layoffs. CUNA Mutual has now laid off 510 employees, almost 10% of its workforce, since last fall. Of the latest 90, 55 are being cut from the Madison, Wisconsin headquarters and 35 from the Waverly, Iowa office. The three areas affected are mail and delivery, image/records storage, and program management. "These are mostly noncustomer facing areas. What we hope to achieve is to focus the company's resources on those businesses that are important to customers," said CUNA Mutual spokesperson Rick Uhlmann. Mail and delivery and image/records storage will be outsourced, while program management is being restructured.
