WASHINGTON-Congressman John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) was elected to the House majority leader post last week after Tom Delay (R-Texas) resigned as a result of his money laundering indictment. Boehner had served on the Agriculture Committee and chaired the Education & the Workforce Committee. "We do have and the league has a relationship with John Boehner," CUNA Director of Grassroots and Political Involvement Gretchen Drobnyk said, noting the financial literacy aspect that falls under his committee's jurisdiction. "We've had a good relationship with him over the years," NAFCU Director of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler said. "We haven't worked with him a lot," he continued but noted his financial education work and that NAFCU/PAC had made political contributions to him in the last two election cycles and plans to again.
