ALEXANDRIA, Va.-Since NCUA permitted credit unions to adopt TIP – trade, industry, or profession – fields of membership, the idea is gaining some steam. NCUA began allowing TIPs in 2003 for single sponsor credit unions that did not want to stray too far from their single sponsor roots. Since then, NCUA has approved 25 with 11 coming from 2005 alone.
