STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich.-NCUA approved TRW Michigan Employees Federal Credit Union for a community charter last fall, which the institution is preparing to act upon. According to Hometown Life.com (Michigan), the TRW plant that formerly sponsored the credit union is closing this summer. "I started here in 2000 and there were probably 1,000 gentleman working across the street, now there are about 100," TRW Michigan Employees Teller/Collections Manager Cathy McDermott said. The community charter will allow the credit union to serve all of Sterling Heights. A name change is also coming but the 54-year-old credit union has not yet announced it. TRW Michigan Employees has $10.6 million in assets and 2,460 members, according to NCUA.
