MIDLAND, Mich. – Dow Chemical Employees' Credit Union recently rewarded its members after experiencing a productive 2005. The $973 million credit union declared a 15% loan interest rebate for 2005. This rebate entitled borrowers in "good standing" to receive a refund of 15% of the total interest paid in 2005 on all eligible DCECU loans, the CU said. A total of $3 million was dispersed. Members in good standing are defined as those members having at least $5 in their share accounts on Dec. 31, 2005, no delinquent accounts, no adverse collection activities on their accounts, and no charge-offs. Certain Visa accounts with Travel Points, Cash Back Rewards or Transaction Rebates and DCECU mortgages were ineligible to receive the rebate. DCECU depositors who were members in good standing also received an additional 10% Member Saver Reward to the dividends/interest earned on all DCECU shares/deposits, which totaled $1.5 million. The rewards don't stop there. For the sixth year in a row, DCECU has authorized a rebate to members who use their DCECU VISAr Check Card. This year's rebate is 0.125% for signature-based transactions, which are calculated on net sales and $0.01 for each PIN-based transaction. "Returning part of our earnings to our loyal members who support the credit union is very gratifying," said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. "We work hard to manage our operations efficiently so that we can thank our members with these rebate and reward programs at the end of the year. We are able to do this because we are a member-owned financial cooperative. And, because of our members, DCECU can continue to serve the community like it has for so long." DCECU serves more than 51,000 members. All rewards were deposited in member accounts on Jan. 1.
