SEATTLE – The $700 million Los Angeles Firemen's Credit Union has added travel and gift certificate awards from Pemco Technologies to the other rewards programs the CU already uses from Pemco. Pemco currently processes 25,000 Visa credit and debit cards for LAFCU, and will process the Extra Awards program as part of the credit union's new Platinum Visa offering. LAFCU, which already has a successful cash rebate program through Pemco, is well positioned to expand its reward offerings. "Our members are affluent, they travel, and 70% pay off their balances every month," said Mike Mastro, CEO. "They have been requesting a rewards program that is flexible enough to meet their needs. We believe the Extra Awards program will truly drive performance and provide our members with the added-value they deserve." The LAFCU announcement comes on the heels of a similar deal inked with the $18 million, 3,500 member, Bowdoinham Federal Credit Union headquartered in Bowdoinham, Maine. Bowdoinham will add Extra Awards to their Platinum Visa, and Signature awards to their Classic Debit. The credit union already uses Pemco for processing of credit, debit, Health Savings Account debit, teen cards, and ATM issuing and acquiring. "With Pemco's ability to administer an awards program for us, we could only see an upside for us and our members," said Bowdoinham's CEO, Dan Daggett. "We truly believe that the awards program will enhance the product offering to our members and give them even more value for their membership."
