WASHINGTON-NCUA Vice Chairman Rodney Hood and Board Member Gigi Hyland were welcomed to the agency with a reception hosted at the Capitol building. A number of congressional dignitaries attended the event including Representative Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), not only of Hood's home state but infamous for his bill attempting to strip NCUA of certain authorities to regulate disclosure materials in credit union conversions to mutuals. Senators Trent Lott (R-Miss.) and John Warner (R-Va.) made appearances, as did Congressman Howard Coble (R-N.C.) and Peter Fischer, chief of staff to Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho). Crapo is charged with drafting regulatory relief legislation in the Senate, which has been held up for some time now. Here is a look at some of the happenings from the event.
