WASHINGTON-Representatives of CUNA, NAFCU, and NCUA all made the rounds to a variety of inaugural events-as well as co-sponsoring an event or two-celebrating President George W. Bush's swearing-in to his second term. Top officials from all three groups attended a number of the inaugural balls, including the Texas Black Tie and Boots Ball. Receptions were held by a number of congressional figures, including California Congressman Ed Royce (R)-the main sponsor of the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 2317). California Credit Union League officials made the cross-country trip to attend. Two CUNA staffers were even invited to volunteer at a couple events. In the photos below, then-NAFCU General Counsel Bill Donovan talks credit unions with Senate Banking Committee Member Mel Martinez (R-Fla.), while outgoing-CUNA Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs John McKechnie gets face-time with Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.).
