While the typical fraud victim profile focuses on those under 35 years old, according to the Federal Trade Commission some 65% of complaints from consumers over the age of 50 were fraud related. In addition, this group reported paying out a total of $152,302,679 due to fraud. The 50 and older consumer also makes up 35% of identity theft complaints.
