BEL AIR, Md. – Neighborhood kids here helped Freedom FederalCredit Union with its hurricane relief efforts. Freedom FCUencouraged members to aid the victims of Hurricanes Katrina andRita through contributions at the local branches with specialaccounts set up for The American Red Cross and Salvation Army. AWeb message was also posted on Freedom FCU's home page with linksto the organizations' sites. While many members responded inperson, a trio of nine-year-old residents from Brentwood ParkOlivia Benden, Carly Spencer, and Justin Collins decided that theywanted to help and set out going door-to-door to collect donationsfor the American Red Cross. Spence and Benden did the same thingback in 2001 for the 9/11 victims. The children collected a totalof $81.33 to the Red Cross Katrina Relief Account. “What amagnificent effort by these kids,” said Freedom FCU CEO Rose AnnLambert.
