MIAMI – Home Financing Center, one of the largest independently and locally owned mortgage lenders in south Florida and which counts 13 credit unions on its client list, is providing Employer-Assisted Housing (EAH) workshops for employees at local corporations, hospitals and schools. The workshops offer an array of resources to help employees buy a home in the high-cost housing market in south Florida including down payment, closing costs, and information about completing the home-buying process. The seminars are targeted at households with family income of $30,000-$80,000, many of whom include teachers, police officers, government employees and workers. The EAH Program also offers participants a cash back incentive that can be applied to a down payment and closing costs. Home Financing Center Co-owner and President Terry Claus Jr. estimates the company will close $250 million in mortgage loans for credit unions in 2005. Its servicing portfolio is currently $710 million.
