ARLINGTON, Va.-NAFCU President and CEO Fred Becker recently announced that the association had retained Korn/Ferry to help fill the open senior vice president of government affairs slot. This news came Oct. 21, also the last day for Senior Vice President and General Counsel Bill Donovan, who decided to change employment after 26 years with the group. Donovan, along with NAFCU Director of Regulatory Affairs Gwen Baker, start with the Washington law firm of Venable, LLP, as of Nov. 1. Becker said the group chose Korn/Ferry for the firm's reputation for finding government affairs executives. Korn/Ferry's financial services clients have included the American Council of Life Insurers, American Insurance Association, Mortgage Bankers Association and the New York Stock Exchange. "We look forward to working with Korn/Ferry to select the best possible candidate to fill this key position," Becker said. He added that he would like the opening filled by January when the second session of the 109th Congress begins. Though Donovan served double duty as senior vice president and general counsel, Becker said he would have to see the final candidate's credentials to determine if they will remain in that dual role or if there will be structural changes to the organization. Korn/Ferry International has 70 offices in 35 countries and its government affairs executive search practice is the largest and most respected in its space and has conducted more senior level government affairs searches than all its competitors combined.
