AUSTIN, Texas -The University of Texas and University FederalCredit Union have teamed up to renovate Disch-Falk Field, the homeof the six-time national champion Texas Longhorns baseball team. Aspart of the deal, the facility will be known as “UFCU Disch-FalkField” on August 1, 2006 and UFCU will contribute $13.1 millionover 15 years including an initial $1.5 million gift, and annualcontributions beginning in the third year of the agreement. Majorrenovations to the 30-year-old facility include a new stadiumstructure, additional seats (including club seating and possiblesuites), a remodeled concourse complete with improved concessions,restrooms and team store, new locker rooms, training facilities andbatting cages, an expanded press box and new sound system.According to UFCU President/CEO Tony Budet, UFCU's move is anextension of existing UFCU financial support of UT, which rangesfrom serving as official corporate sponsor of UT Athletics toproviding funding for the new UT Child Care Center, theNeighborhood Longhorns program, UT libraries and scholarships. Anarchitectural firm and construction manager should be selected bythe end of the year and construction should begin after the 2006college baseball season. “University Federal Credit Union has beena key supporter of UT Athletics for more than 10 years and thisagreement will enhance the relationship we enjoy with them whileallowing us to move forward immediately with plans for therenovation of our baseball facility,” said UT Men's AthleticsDirector DeLoss Dodds.
