ARLINGTON, Va.-NAFCU wrote Senate Banking Committee Chairman Richard Shelby last week, urging him to fill the open spots on the NCUA Board. On Sept. 30, the committee received the nomination of Gigi Hyland as the next Democratic member to the NCUA Board after the resignation of Debbie Matz, the last piece of the puzzle. The NCUA Board has had a vacant seat for more than a year and currently has two openings. USDA Associate Administrator for the Rural Housing Services Rodney E. Hood is the Republican nominated to the other open seat. "As you know, as a result of the recent resignation of NCUA Board Member Debbie Matz, the NCUA Board currently has only one Board Member in place, Chairman JoAnn Johnson," NAFCU President and CEO Fred Becker wrote. "In this vein, we urge prompt and favorable action on Mr. [Rodney E.] Hood's nomination by the Banking Committee and the full Senate in order to expeditiously return the NCUA Board to its full complement." He urged the same of Hyland's confirmation.
