DENVER – With rising fuel prices pushing consumers' increased interest in fuel-efficient vehicles, New Horizons Community CU has introduced an auto loan promotion that appeals to that trend. The $300 million NHCCU's promotion reduces vehicle loan rates based on the fuel economy of a new or used vehicle and offers members discounted rates to trade-in their current vehicles for more fuel-efficient transportation. Listed rates will be reduced 0.50% on vehicles that get 25-plus combined miles per gallon and 0.25% on vehicles that get 20-24 combined MPG. MPG is based on the government data available at www.fueleconomy.gov. The promotion will run for a limited time, but NHCCU's current plan call for it to run into 2006. NHCCU VP of Lending Steve Trigonoplos said the promotion "is an innovative way to serve our members by offering a lower loan rate for fuel efficient vehicle purchasers. The member will have a lower monthly car payment as well as less fuel expense which keeps more money in their pocket month-in and month-out." New Horizons has over 23,000 members throughout the U.S.
