PURCHASE, N.Y. – Cardtronics, the nation's largest independent deployer of ATMs and the chief ATM provider for the Allpoint network, has made an agreement with MasterCard which, theoretically, could give MasterCard cardholders across the country with surcharge free access to 25,000 Cardtronics machines. Ben Psillas, president of Allpoint said that he doesn't particularly view the MasterCard move as competition even though it would appear to offer MasterCard cardholders fee-free card access through Cardtronics, which is what Allpoint does. Psillas explained that MasterCard issuers will have to pay Cardtronics a fee for participating in the program and Cardtronics machines are not branded as belonging to Cardtronics. "This is really more of an ATM locator program," Psillas said.
