ARVADA, Colo. – The Colorado Credit Union League and Foundationhas set up a fund to collect cash and item donations for thevictims of Hurricane Katrina. The two groups are also offeringtechnical support to any of the 535 credit unions affected inLouisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Communication with theMississippi League has been ongoing in an attempt to find CUs thatneed IT services including call center operations, call forwardingand email. So far, $15,000 in donations has been made to theNational Credit Union Foundation's National Disaster Relief Fund.Of that amount, $5,000 came from the Foundation and the remaining$10,000 was contributed by various credit unions and their members.The Foundation has also collected 50 lightweight jackets andtoiletry items including 1,000 mini bars of soap andtoothpaste/toothbrush packets. These have been shipped to theMississippi League for distribution to credit union employees andtheir families.
