WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The National Association of State Chartered Credit Union Supervisors' Annual Conference and Symposium being held this week in Chicago marks the 40th anniversary of the association. Starting with St. Mary's Cooperative Credit Association of New Hampshire, which was the first state-chartered CU in the U.S. – and the first credit union for that matter -the state-chartered credit union system has evolved to include 3,819 SCCUs, as of Q1, 2005, with average assets of $87,347,897. The following is a listing of the top 100 state-chartered credit unions in the U.S., according to NASCUS.
