NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – What better way to demonstrate the benefits of belonging to the new American Eagle Federal Credit Union(AEFCU) Eagle Savings Club than taking members out to the ballpark? Some 550 members attended the $835 million credit union's Baseball and Ice Cream Bash at the New Britain Rock Cats Stadium. The Eagle Club account is exclusively for members age 15 and younger and when a parent or guardian opens an Eagle Club account with $50 for their child or grandchild, they receive a free stuffed eagle or a CD holder. AEFCU President/CEO William Dokas kicked off the family friendly event with the help of CU mascot Earnest the Eagle by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Later Earnest the Eagle recruited some of the younger members to lead the group in cheers for AEFCU and Minor League Baseball's Rock Cats. According to AEFCU execs member response to the event has been overwhelmingly positive. Other events are slated to be held periodically throughout the rest of the year.
