TEMECULA, Calif. – California Coast Credit Union has recently been presented the 2005 Business Hall of Fame Award by California State PTA's 23rd District-Riverside in recognition of its ongoing support of education. California Coast Community Relations Manager Lynn Laing accepted the award on behalf of the credit union during an awards banquet at the Eagle Glen Golf Club in Corona. "Through her helping hands and kind heart, Lynn has identified needs and arranged for California Coast's contribution of more than $8,500 in goods and services to our schools," said Temecula Valley Council PTA Executive Committee Member Marsi Yount. "Because of these donations we have been able to use our funds for much-needed programs and services that benefit the students of Temecula Valley." Yount adds that with the state budget crunch limiting the resources for our schools, this business partnership with California Coast CU has been invaluable. Laing first introduced California Coast to the TVCPTA during its Temecula branch grand opening last year where each school in the council was sent an invitation. Each participating school then received $300 from the credit union, which was funneled through the PTA to use toward programs where there was a defined need. Since the grand opening the credit union has continued its support through activities ranging from donating school supplies for children who couldn't afford them and conducting free child fingerprinting at various community events, to donating computers for special education programs. California Coast employees have also helped children prepare for the future by going out into the community on a regular basis and teaching elementary and middle school students the value of financial literacy and managing their money. "I am delighted that California Coast received the Business Hall of Fame Award," Laing said. "It's gratifying for us to make a difference for students in the community. As an organization, California Coast always has and always will continue to place great importance on the value of education, not only for the individual, but for the community and for society as a whole."
