ROME, Italy – Attendance figures at WOCCU's 2005 Rome Conference are at a record for their conferences held outside of North America with 1,124 people registered at the start of the conference. The U.S. had the biggest representation with 455 registrants followed by Ireland at 195 who came not just for the conference but to see Gerry Foley, former WOCCU President, receive an award for his service to credit unions (see page 21). Canada sent 87 people. Forty-one countries were represented from all five populated continents. Italians, unlike Americans who say there are seven continents, count only five continents by considering North and South America and Europe and Asia as single continents. The conference in Nashville, Tennessee outdrew this conference as did Canada which was the second best attended in the history of WOCCU.
