DUBLIN, Ireland – Members of The Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) can now save on their phone and Internet services costs thanks to Credit Union PhoneSave and Credit Union InternetSaver. The new services give participating credit unions email accounts, broadband connection and Web site development from three different providers working together. The service began March 15. “The ILCU has negotiated this package as a benefit for its affiliated credit unions on a commission-free basis so that the level of service and pricing is extremely attractive” Liam O`Dwyer, ILCU CEO said. Credit unions could save up to 20% on their combined telecoms charges. “This development marks a further significant improvement in the level of service provision offered by the ILCU to its credit unions,” said O’Dwyer who was brought in as CEO to help solve major problems between members and the league after a costly computer system failed a couple of years ago. This is the first major new service offered since that time. Red Sky is providing InternetSaver which will help credit unions with all their Internet solutions from domain names through marketing of a Web site. Red Sky is working with EuroKom, which will offer the e-mail component as well as virus checks and other security features. One of Ireland’s leading telecoms operators, Access, is providing Credit Union PhoneSave including the broadband connections where available. The league and Access worked closely together to make sure that the services provided matched credit unions needs both in terms of time and money. Access will also give credit unions that request it a free telecoms, email and Web site audit before specific solutions are recommended with no obligation to buy. Credit unions will also be given one monthly simplified bill provided either by snail or e-mail. “While this package immediately simplifies the whole process of improving credit unions` telecommunications and internet development, it also establishes a very economical and flexible basis for future growth and increasing service sophistication,” O`Dwyer said in his announcement to his 532 member credit unions.
