DULUTH, Ga. – Georgia Federal Credit Union is helping itsmembers get on the offense in the fight against identity theft bypartnering with Identity Theft 911. Under the program, IdentityTheft 911's industry-leading victim resolution services will beavailable free to all Georgia Federal Credit Union members withchecking accounts. Members will also have access to a consumereducation program on identity theft risks and defenses, whichprovides members with ongoing fraud alerts, a monthly newsletter,and a dedicated Web site with articles, interviews, and whitepapers covering every aspect of identity theft. The new program isin addition to the credit union's recent “We've Got You Covered”promotional offer of free identity theft protection for memberswith new car loans. “Identity theft is the greatest single threatAmerican consumers face today,” said GFCU CEO Warren Butler. “Thiscrime attacks the very foundation of our economy and recent eventshave shown that anyone can become a victim. As a credit union wehave a special relationship with our members and we feel aresponsibility to do whatever we can to help them defend againstthis epidemic-even in situations that have nothing to do with ourinstitution. This partnership is the right thing to do.”
