LAS VEGAS – Judging from attendance at a preliminary meeting held during the NACUSO Annual Conference to gauge interest in forming a national business services CUSO network, there is enough interest to take the next step to organizing the new group. Formation of a national business services CUSO network is the brainchild of NACUSO General Counsel Guy Messick who took his idea to the NACUSO Board and followed up with emails to CEOs of member business lending CUSOs who had registered for the conference. The idea behind the new group which Messick emphasizes "will not just be another association" is to bring together expertise and the business services CUSOs to share resources and best practices with each other." "All business services CUSOs, for example, don't have experience with making business loans. This network will give CUSOs the opportunity to turn to other CUSOs with experience in other areas for information to share," he says. Counter Intelligence Associates President Mike Hales who was one of those who received the email from Messick, said "sharing resources with each other on various types of business lending offers an additional level of safety and soundness to the industry." He added that, "Bringing our expertise together and sharing resources is the type of strength the banking industry will never have." -
