DALLAS – Southwest Corporate Federal Credit Union's Cornerstone Campaign has raised $25,000 for charitable credit union foundations. The campaign allows credit unions and supporters to purchase bricks engraved with their names and used in the building of Southwest Corporate's new headquarters, which is scheduled to open in Northern Dallas later this year. "The bricks will serve as a lasting reminder that our success it truly built upon the support of our member credit unions," said Francis Lee, CEO of Southwest Corporate. "We are also pleased that the money raised during this campaign will be used to strengthen the credit union system through the efforts of credit union foundations." While most credit unions chose to have their name placed on the bricks, some took the opportunity to "memorialize" former credit unions that have disappeared because of mergers. Others purchased bricks in the name of former credit union pioneers and leaders. Southwest Corporate's Chairman Jesse Gutierrez will present Steve Delfin, executive director of the National Credit Union Foundation, with a check for $7,500 during Southwest Corporate's annual meeting on Wednesday, May 4. The remaining Cornerstone Campaign funds will be dispersed to various state credit union foundations in the coming weeks.
