LATHAM, N.Y. - The New York State Credit Union League says itsfirst fundraising dinner to benefit its state political actioncommittee "far surpassed expectations." The fundraising event washeld April 11 at one of the state capital's top political hangouts,Jack's Oyster House. The League raised just over $7,200 to benefitCUPAC from the dinner, which NYSCUL VP Governmental Affairs AmyKramer said is comparable to what the League has raised at golfevents to benefit CUPAC. Kramer explained that the League usesvarious avenues to raise CUPAC funds such as deduct-a-buck andsilent auctions, and the fundraising dinner at the popular eaterygot rave reviews from the more than 60 credit union attendees fromacross the state and many cosponsors who attended. Entertainmentfor the dinner was provided by local radio personality RichiePhillips who kept the mood lively throughout the evening withgames, music and political humor. To raise additional funds, theLeague also held a 50/50 raffle. The winner, Empire Corporate FCU'sKevin Brauer, donated the money back to CUPAC. All proceeds raisedfrom the dinner will be used to make campaign contributions tolegislators who vote for and support credit unions and members.Event sponsors included: AmeriCU, Branch 6000 NALC CU, COCC, CUNAMutual Group, MemberTrade Advisory Services LLC, Enterprise CarSales, Erie County ECU, Hudson River Community CU, Melrose CU,MorPAC, Municipal CU, and Riehlman, Shafer & Shafer. New Yorkcredit unions have more than $34 billion in assets in total andmore than four million members. The New York State Credit UnionLeague is the fourth largest in the country.
