WASHINGTON-Congressman Henry Hyde (Ill.), chairman of the International Relations Committee and the second ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, recently announced that he will not seek a 17th term in Congress. Between bankruptcy reform legislation and U.S. Agency for International Development funding, the credit union trade associations, including CUNA, NAFCU and WOCCU, have worked a good deal with Hyde. "At the end of this term, I will have served 32 years in office as representative of the Sixth Congressional District of Illinois," Hyde said in making his announcement. "I want to thank the people in my district for their support over the years. I am grateful for the many friends who have supported me since the beginning of my career and the many who have joined with me over the years."
