WASHINGTON -The Mortgage Bankers Association has launched the Mortgage Fraud Against Lenders Resource Center, an online resource designed to be a one-stop shop for the industry to gather the information and tools they need to fight mortgage fraud. MBA President/CEO Jonathan Kempner said the MBA intends for the resource center to become "a virtual meeting place for lenders to share information and resources to protect their companies and their borrowers from being victimized by mortgage fraud against the real estate finance system." The Web site for the new resource center is http://mbafightsfraud.mortgagebankers.org. Among the information that will be kept on the Web site are: fraud alert updates on emerging fraud schemes; news and updates from Washington, D.C. and throughout the U.S. about fraud; a Lender Tool Box with resources that can be used by lenders in protecting themselves from being victims of fraud; a resource library of reports and helpful links; a comprehensive list of state and federal agencies where lenders can file reports of fraud; and information on educational programs focused on fraud.
