ST. LOUIS – Vantage Credit Union recently took the opportunityon President's Day to educate local CBS affiliate News 4 MorningAnchor/Reporter Virginia Kerr on the importance of financialliteracy. Vantage CU Community Education Specialist Rachel Parrent,who coordinates the CU's Money Matters program spent the morningwith Kerr. Money Matters, a free service offered by the creditunion since 1996, has provided financial education presentationsand materials to over 36,000 students, teachers, and communitygroups through more than 1,300 presentations. Presentations coverpersonal finance topics such as saving, budgeting, credit, andchecking. Kids dressed as future investors (complete with ties)woke up early on their day off to meet Kerr and discuss spendingand savings habits with the popular morning anchor. Older childrentalked about part-time jobs and the importance of saving moneywhile younger children guessed the names of Presidents on giantcurrency and offered Kerr fun facts about the Presidents they werestudying at school.
