NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – Former South Carolina Federal Credit Union CEO Robert Dargan has died at the age of 64, ending his two year battle with cancer. Dargan, who led SCFCU from 1992 to 2004, was known as a leader in the South Carolina financial community and throughout the Southeast for over 30 years. With a philosophy of providing top quality member service, under his leadership the credit union underwent a name change and also grew from $390 million in assets to $1 billion. A volunteer for various organizations, Dargan was also the first CO-OP Network board director from the southeastern U.S. "Bob will be greatly missed by the S.C. Federal Board, employees, members as well as numerous groups and individuals around the state, for the significant impact he had on the financial industry in South Carolina," said the S.C. FCU board in a release. Dargan is survived by his wife Betty Jo, children Mary, Robert and David and six grandchildren.
