ARLINGTON, Va.-NAFCU has announced that Rebecca Somers has replaced John Zimmerman as public relations manager effective Feb. 22. Somers has a wealth of public relations knowledge. She most recently served as public relations director for Promisant, a global multi-currency electronic financial services company. There, she managed press and analyst relations, customer relations, and product launches for the company. Prior to that, Somers was a senior account executive with Cole Communications in McLean, Va., from 1995 through 2000, where she advised associations and high-tech and telecommunications clients on public relations, investor relations and strategic public relations programs. She has also done public relations for Landmark Systems Corporation, SCO, a software firm in Santa Cruz, Calif., and Novell, Inc. Somers is a graduate of Brigham Young University with honors in public relations and organizational communications and holds a minor in broadcast journalism. She is a native of Washington, D.C.
