ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson recently announcedthat the next Access Across America Economic Empowerment Summit isscheduled for April 8 in Newark, N.J. “NCUA is pleased to announcethe second summit of 2005, which will bring together public andprivate entities to discuss economic empowerment and financialself-sufficiency,” Johnson commented. “We look forward to meetingwith credit union officials and volunteers in the Northeast, whoare making a difference in the lives of their members and helpingthem achieve the American Dream of financial independence.” Creditunions in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, andDelaware are invited to attend the free, one-day event, which willfocus on federal resources available to credit unions. Subjects ofdiscussion will include member business lending, Health SavingsAccounts, homeownership, financial education, and servingunderserved areas. Participating agencies include the Departmentsof Agriculture, Health and Human Services, Housing and UrbanDevelopment, and Treasury. The Export-Import Bank of the UnitedStates, Small Business Administration, and the NeighborhoodReinvestment Corporation will also make presentations.
