ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson recently announced that the next Access Across America Economic Empowerment Summit is scheduled for April 8 in Newark, N.J. “NCUA is pleased to announce the second summit of 2005, which will bring together public and private entities to discuss economic empowerment and financial self-sufficiency,” Johnson commented. “We look forward to meeting with credit union officials and volunteers in the Northeast, who are making a difference in the lives of their members and helping them achieve the American Dream of financial independence.” Credit unions in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Delaware are invited to attend the free, one-day event, which will focus on federal resources available to credit unions. Subjects of discussion will include member business lending, Health Savings Accounts, homeownership, financial education, and serving underserved areas. Participating agencies include the Departments of Agriculture, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, and Treasury. The Export-Import Bank of the United States, Small Business Administration, and the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation will also make presentations.
