COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – Jim Bright, president/CEO, Scott CU died Jan. 22 from a massive heart attack. He was 58 years old. EVP Frank Padak has been named Acting President of Scott CU. SCU, the fourth largest credit union in the St. Louis Metropolitan area, has more than $355 million in assets. A memorial service for Bright was held Jan. 25. At the time of his death, Bright was second vice chairman of the Defense Credit Union Council. He served as DCUC chairman from September 1996-August 1999. During his credit union career he also served as treasurer and former chairman of the Midwest Defense Credit Union Sub-Council; chairman, Southern Illinois Chapter of Credit Unions; president, St. Louis Credit Union Management Association; and chairman, Mid-States Corporate Federal Credit Union Credit Committee. Bright was an advocate of the Credit Union Political Action Committee (CUPAC) as well as the Illinois Credit Union League. In 1992 he was named Executive of the Year by the Illinois Council of CUES. Bright is survived by his wife Charlotte and two daughters.
