LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.-In a twist, former long-time Independent Community Bankers of America President Ken Guenther was scheduled to address NAFCU’s CEOs Conference last week in Florida. Guenther’s segment of the program was entitled, “The Banking Perspective.” He is currently running his own consulting firm. Conference attendees will also hear from key policymakers like Fannie Mae Vice President and Chief Economist David Berson and NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Johnson planned to discuss highlights of 2004 and what’s ahead for 2005. But, before getting down to business, conference attendees were scheduled for a full day of golf. The NSC Preferred Provider Open Golf Tournament was set to kick off the conference, with an early bird golf clinic with Jan Stephenson, a 16-time winner of the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour. An awards reception was expected to follow the event. For non-golfers, a behind the scenes tour of “Hidden Treasures of the World Showcase,” which examines history and culture in each `showcase’ country, had been arranged. CEOs use the conference to interact and learn from highly rated speakers and education sessions aimed at bolstering CEO effectiveness.
