MADISON, Wis. -Fort Knox Federal Credit Union Chairman Henry Wheatley has walked away from the CUES 2004 Directors Conference held in Waikoloa, Hawaii as this year’s Directors Educational Forum Director of the Year. Wheatley has been a member of Fort Knox FCU board of directors for more than 27 years and served as chairman of the board in 1990 to 1993 and from 2002 to present. During his tenure, Fort Knox FCU has grown from $36 million to $420 million in assets, reserves have increased from $1.2 million to over $57 million and ROA consistently exceeds 1.66%. He has helped to guide the credit union from a single-sponsor group organization to a diversified multi-SEG financial institution. J. Alvin George, vice chairman of the board at North Island CU, and the 2003 CUES DEF Director of the Year, presented Wheatley with an engraved crystal trophy.
The equity distribution was the second since the Temporary Corporate Credit Union Stabilization Fund was merged with the SIF.
The drop suggests the housing market is still struggling as buyers strain to find affordable options.
PSCU also announced that almost 50% of its employees completed training on the significance of the credit union movement.
