FORT WORTH, Texas – The $558 million EECU credit union, headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, has become the latest credit union to select Allpoint, the ATM network which provides surcharge-free transactions to cardholders while charging the institutions a flat fee for participation. "The demand for "totally free" ATMs, not just surcharge free, is an important factor for consumers when choosing a financial institution," said Robert Rogers, CEO of the credit union. "EECU strives to be the financial institution that meets that expectation. Our management team decided to go the direction of totally free before we entered into the agreement with Allpoint. One thing a consumer looks at before opening a new checking account is whether the ATMs are convenient and what type of fees are involved," said Rogers. Allpoint now provides 32,000 ATMs nationwide, fee-free to cardholders, and 848 in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, the credit union said.
